We have been able to confirm #1, #2, #12 and #15 are all variant 36.a.i. So this is the first run. Interestingly, we haven't found numbered limitation pages on any of the subsequent variants. Our guess is 25, maybe 50 of these exist and Jerad just stopped numbering the limitation pages of the other variants. So it appears the only Lovecraft MotWT with a numbered limitation page are these 36.a.i books with yellow cloth slipcases and inset pictorial in front boards. All other variants have red cloth slipcases.
The second variant is fully produced in matching brown bonded leather for the front and rear boards of the main and companion volumes. This is the same material as was used for the companion volume of 36.a.i. This material is known to flake easily due to friction in the slipcase. It is rare to find this in mint condition.
For variants iii to v it appears Jerad used different portaits for the main volume and companion volumes. So in total there are 5 variants for the main volume and 4 variants for the companion volume because the latter is the same in variants i and ii
Over 1,200 pages of Lovecraft’s best fiction and selected collaborations, with select illustrations. Also includes Supernatural Fiction in Literature, the de facto reference essay on the genre. This volume includes a separate book of H.P. Lovecraft portrait photographs, the largest such collection of pictures ever assembled in one volume. Two volumes in a handsome slipcase.
